The foundation of the TwoMills herd
My passion is the Riggit Galloway - and red ones at that. Our current herd sire is Hatherland Finlay, bred by Alison and Harriet Bunning.
The foundation cows in our herd come from Riggit Society Breed Registration Secretary Anne Bell and her Clifton Herd and from well respected Galloway breeder Tim Oliver and his Off The Wall Herd.
The cows are Red and Black Galloway cows, solid red cows or white cows with red points (ears / muzzle) or black points. White Galloways are registered in a separate herd book maintained by the Belted Galloway Cattle Society
In late 2018 and to complement new parkland grazings at Newe House, Pakenham, a Belted Galloway herd has been founded with some impressive genetic lines. The aim is to breed for beef conformation and to maintain and improve the female lines at TwoMills with select Black and Red Belted Galloway females. Foundation herd sire is Dunay Tavish.
Following on from showing success at local one day shows in 2018 (culminating in a TwoMills White Galloway cow winning Native Cow 1st prize at Terling Show), TwoMills will show Belted Galloway and White Galloway heifers and a Riggit Galloway bull in 2019.
Links to all three breed societies and other sites of interest are to be found on the links tabs (shadow "more").
